THE BIG DAY

Photos of the museum opening in 1953

Several photographs taken on 28th November 1953, at the opening of the Silk Museum in Garlate. In the group photo, we can see Carl Job in the middle of the front row (in the hat and dark suit) and Carl Arter Abegg (fourth from the right). Job's two sons, Franco and Arturo, can be seen to his right. The traditionally dressed woman in the front row is Beatrice Gilardi, a former spinner; the first on the right in the second row is Vittorio Crippa, the former technical director of the Abegg companies and fitter of the museum. In the other photos, Carl Job presents the collection of machines to the museum.
